Vinted Shoppers Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Updates

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Updates

Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Required Changes

Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
